Today Nigeria celebrates its 61st Independence day. Growing up as a very young girl and up to my early adulthood, I heard Nigeria called different names; “Giant of Africa”, “The trigger of Africa”, “Pride of Africa”, and at some point, we had a re-orientation campaign βGood People, Great Nationβ.
All hope is not lost because I look forward to a Great Nigeria; A country with good people who have the fear of God in them and live by His principles. I choose to confess positively regardless of the happenings around because I have chosen to walk by faith and not by sight. After all, God’s word says:
"When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person" Job 22:29
God instructed Aaron and his sons on how to bless the Israelites. Hence today, as Nigeria celebrates it’s Independence Day, I pray the same blessings upon Nigeria:
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26
We pray God’s mercies, grace and blessings upon this great Nation in Jesus name! Amen!!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
